Landscape design
in Pflugerville, TX.

Pflugerville is right next door to our base in Manor, and a lot of the work here starts with an HOA. Many neighborhoods have written design guidelines, and some ask for landscape plans to be reviewed before any work begins.

Designing around HOA guidelines

Communities such as Falcon Pointe and Blackhawk publish architectural and landscape guidelines, and some require committee approval of a landscape plan, with minimums for lawn, trees or plants. That's not a reason to put off a project. It just means the plan has to be clear. Guidelines get updated, so we work from the copy your HOA gives you now. The City of Pflugerville also has its own landscaping standards, which mostly come into play on larger projects.

Established yards, tired lawns

Many Pflugerville homes are ten or twenty years old. The trees have grown, the shade has moved, and the St. Augustine that thrived in full sun now thins out under the canopy. Often the right answer is less lawn: a shade bed of Turk's cap, inland sea oats and cedar sage under the trees, a gravel or DG sitting area where grass won't grow, and a cleaner lawn shape where it gets enough sun.

Same clay, different starting point

Most of Pflugerville is on the same blackland clay as Manor. It's fertile but heavy, and it moves with the seasons. That movement is what tilts old pavers and opens gaps along edging. When we rebuild a walkway or patio here, we put the work into the base and the edge restraint, and we deal with low spots that hold water along fences and side yards.

Backyards that get used

Pflugerville backyards are usually a good size, and most homeowners want the same thing: to spend more time outside. A pergola or patio cover on the west side of the house, a larger patio and some lighting along the path often do more than any amount of new planting. We'll help you sort out what to do first and what can wait.

A short drive from Manor

Pflugerville is a short drive from our base in Manor up FM 973 or SH 130, so site visits and follow-ups are easy to fit in.

Do you design around Pflugerville HOA guidelines?

Yes. We work from the current guidelines your HOA provides, so the design starts from the rules that apply to your yard.

Usually a shade bed or a small gravel sitting area where grass struggles, and a smaller, healthier lawn where there's sun.
