Landscape design
& native planting.
A plan for the whole yard, planted for Central Texas.

Start with how the yard gets used
Good planting starts with a plan. Before we pick a single plant we look at where the sun hits in July, where water runs when it storms, where you walk, and what you see from the kitchen window. Then we lay out beds, paths and open space so the yard works first and looks good because of it.
Planted for heat, clay and dry spells
Most of our area sits on heavy clay that cracks in August and stays wet after a storm. We prep beds properly, raise them where drainage is poor, and group plants by how much water they need. We lean on natives and well-adapted plants: Texas sage (cenizo, the shrub we're named after), autumn sage, Turk's cap, red yucca, agave, muhly grass and little bluestem, with cedar elm, live oak or Texas redbud where a tree fits.
Borders, gravel and edging that hold the lines
Clean edges are what make a planted yard read as designed instead of overgrown. We use limestone borders, steel edging, gravel and decomposed granite to separate beds from lawn and paths, and to keep mulch and rock where they belong.
