Landscaping & landscape design
in Hutto, TX.
Hutto has grown fast, and most homes there are new or nearly new: open lots, young trees if any, and a backyard that's mostly sod and a fence.

Design first, not just maintenance
A lot of the yard work around Hutto is mowing and lawn care, and that has its place. What many new homeowners want, though, is a plan: where a patio goes, how to get some shade, what to plant along the front so it looks finished, and how to do it in stages. That's the work we do.
Open lots and wind
Hutto sits out on open prairie, and new neighborhoods don't have much to slow the wind or block the afternoon sun. A shade tree in the right spot, a pergola on the west side and a few layers of planting along the fence line change how the backyard feels more than anything else. We like cedar elm, chinquapin oak, Mexican plum and desert willow for new yards here, depending on space.
Heavy blackland clay
The soil around Hutto is deep black clay, the kind farmers prized and gardeners fight with. It cracks wide in a dry summer and turns sticky after rain. New lots often have compacted subsoil under a thin layer of topsoil. We loosen and amend beds, build them up where water collects, and slope things so runoff moves away from the house. Native prairie grasses, Texas sage, autumn sage, red yucca and flame acanthus all handle these conditions.
HOA neighborhoods
Master-planned communities like Star Ranch, Carmel Creek and Hutto Highlands usually have rules about front-yard planting, trees, fences and sometimes how much lawn you keep. We design with your current guidelines in mind.
Building in stages
Not everything has to happen at once. We can draw the whole yard now, then build the patio this year and the planting next spring, so each phase fits the last.
The drive from Manor
Hutto is a short drive from our base in Manor straight up SH 130, so Hutto is well within our regular area.
Common questions about landscaping in Hutto
Can you do my yard in phases?
Yes. We can plan the whole yard up front and build it in stages so each phase fits the next.
How do I get shade on an open Hutto lot?
A shade tree like cedar elm or chinquapin oak in the right spot, a pergola on the west side and layered planting along the fence line slow the wind and block the afternoon sun.
